AHSCS Round 1

Pre Race: We left home around 11:00 a.m. Saturday, and arrived at the track around 3:30 p.m. I was able to unload really quick and put in a few laps on the motocross track. The ground was pretty dry, but the forecast showed rain on Sunday, so I thought that would make perfect conditions for the race.

Race: I left the first turn with the $100 hole shot award, and first place position into the woods. I started to put a little gap on second place, but that was closed about half way through the lap, when Josh Weisenfels caught me. About the time he caught me, the rain stated to fall… hard. I led the whole first lap (first time to ever lead Josh Weisenfels a whole lap), but he passed me on the motocross track. I kept up with him for a few miles, but then I lost my goggles and started making little mistakes. Throughout the next two laps, I just rode smart, choosing good lines, and trying not to get stuck. With two laps to go, the rain had stopped, and I got the pit board saying that Bryan Vaughan was catching me. I put my head down and pushed to the finish. I ended up about 2 minutes ahead of Vaughan, and about 3 minutes behind Weisenfels. I felt very strong today, and never got tired or fatigued. Now I’m going home to start training and testing on the new KTM. I will be getting ready for round 2 of the GNCC series in Georgia.

Results:  1. Josh Weisenfels

                   2. Zach Ingram

                   3. Bryan Vaughan
