Pre Race: We arrived at the track Sunday morning in time to get in a practice lap. I did not like the fast, rocky, and slippery trail to much, but I felt like I could go pretty fast. My Rekluse Z start pro helped out a whole lot in the slick rocky stuff. After practice I got cooled off and ready to go for the real deal.
Race: There were only 3 pros, which made the start pretty much irrelevant. I was 2nd going into the woods behind Bryan Vaughan. My plan was to follow him the first lap, and then pull away from him after that. At the end of the first lap, I was ready to put on a charge. On the 2nd lap I made a little mistake going down, and that took some time to catch back up to Bryan. Once I did that I decided I would follow a little longer. Going into the 3rd lap, about halfway through the race, I was ready to go for real. I finally got around Bryan on an uphill that I took a different line to sneak by. Once I got the lead I pushed really hard to break away. Not to long after that, I blew a turn and got all wadded up in the brush. Once again I was back in 2nd. I was pushing to catch back up when all of a sudden I realized it was hard to turn. I had a front flat. I finished out that lap, and pulled into the pits. Unfortunately we do not have an extra set of wheels, so we had to completely change out the tube. I lost about 12 minutes with that stop. At that point I was just going out to try and get some points. I rode good my last two laps, with the fastest lap on each of those by a whole minute. I ended up 2nd in the pro class, but 5th overall. We don’t know what the problem has been lately, but I can’t seem to get any luck. I have had three flat tires in the last 2 months. Other than the flat tire, the KTM worked great. We don’t have another race on the schedule for a while, so I’m going to put in my time training, and try to come out in September with some better finishes.

2. Brad Warren (KTM)
3. Ron Mooney (KTM)
