National Enduro Round 4

Zach Ingram National Enduro Round 4

Westpoint, Tennessee

April 17, 2011

Pre Race: Thursday morning I woke up with a sore throat which continued into Friday, so I went to the doctor to get it checked out before we drove 8 hours to race. I tested positive for “mono”, so I wasn’t supposed to do any physical activity for a while but this race was pretty much a must for me. We left early Saturday, and rolled in mid-afternoon. It was cold and rainy, but everyone said the place drains well, and the trails would be good. I wasn’t expecting to do great considering my condition, but I wanted to ride and get points.

Race: The first test was 10 miles of pretty tight, slick single track. There were a lot of pine trees, and the pine needles on the ground made it slick along with the mud. The second test was about the same as the first, and I rode really well through there. The third test was a short 5 miler, and I was mistake free through there once again. After the gas, my race went downhill for a while. The fourth test was awful. I got buried in a mud hole and lost about a minute getting out of that, then just couldn’t get going smooth after that. The fifth test wasn’t very good either. Going into the last test I was down on myself because I knew I had a good ride going until those two tests. The sixth test was by far my favorite, and I rode really well once I latched on to Ted Mullins, able to keep him in sight to push me. I finished 6th in 250A and 25th overall. I’m happy with the result considering I wasn’t 100%. I’m going to have to take the next couple weeks off to let my body heal from mono, but I’ll be back strong for the next round. I want to thank everyone who helps me out. I know this is a tough sport to compete in, and I couldn’t do it without all of my family, friends, and sponsors.
