2012 Zach Ingram Race Report

Outcome: 2nd A 250 5th Overall A
Before the Race: We headed west Friday night and by Saturday morning we were in Georgia. I managed to forget to pack jeans, so the only pants I had were pajama pants. I stopped at a dollar general and got some sweat pants to make it through the weekend. The forecast was predicting rain all night Saturday, and continuing into race day, so I got everything ready to go for a wet ride.
Race: The first test was the shortest of the day. I felt pretty good in there, but losing my goggles made it hard to charge. Test two was about like the first; I rode fine and didn’t make any major mistakes. The third test was the worst of the day for me. I struggled to find my rhythm, and once Grant Baylor caught me from the row behind me I was a bit discouraged. I got caught in some vines trying to keep up with him, which was pretty painful. The next three tests weren’t much different than the previous, and I finished with a solid 2nd place in the 250A class and 21st overall.
After Race Thoughts: I’m happy to come away with a 2nd place considering the conditions. I felt great in each test until I had to shed my goggles, so I think that is a little confidence booster for me to consider how I would have done if I could have kept them. Despite that, the Rekluse combined with the Kenda tires were a great combination for the nasty terrain. I can’t wait for round 3 coming up in just a couple of weeks!
