2012 Zach Ingram Race Report

Bike: 2012 Husaberg TE 250
Outcome: 4th Pro 4th Overall
Before the Race: I was lucky to get to tag along with the Leivans this weekend. I drove to Tulsa, OK on Friday night, where they picked me up. We got to the race late, but were able to sleep until practice at 11 on Saturday. During practice, I was really not feeling like I was riding well at all. The track seemed to be a bit sketchy to me, and Andrew Smith who rode along with us, injured his ankle in practice.The track didn’t suit me very well, but I was set on making the best of it!
Race: The first couple of turns were a bit sketchy, causing a little pile up in the second turn. I was able to get around the outside, and hit the single-track behind Cole Kirkpatrick. The first part of a lap seemed to be the faster half, and I couldn’t hang with the top few. I ended up with wet gloves by the end of the first lap, which was really distracting to ride with. I fell back to 6th around the third lap, but then I started to ride a little smoother. I caught Cameron Kirkpatrick, and we rode together for the remainder of the race. We both were the last ones to go out on the last lap, where I was able to get around him. I finished the day in 4th, which I was happy with.
After Race Thoughts: I’m glad the weekend went smoothly, and we came home healthy and ready to go for an Arkansas harescramble next weekend. Special thanks to the Leivan and Pratt families for treating me so well, and hope Andrew is healed up soon.
