Pre Race: Jake, my dad, and I headed out Saturday around noon for Gilmer, Texas. I was told to expect rocky with no mud, so I was excited about that. When we got there, we got signed up on row 33, got the bikes prepped and were ready to race.
Race: This race consisted of 6 tests, so I will tell a little about each one. The first test was very tight single track. I felt really good in there once I got over the initial arm pump. The second test was a blast! It was a little more open with perfect dirt, and great flow. The last test of the first loop was not that great for me. I crashed at high speed in tight woods, and I think it scared me more than anything. When I got back going, I was all tense and just riding out of control. Luckily the main gas was next, so I had plenty of time to regroup and get ready for the second half of the race. The fourth loop was the exact same as the first. I felt pretty fast through there, and made no mistakes. The fifth test was the killer. It was 12.5 miles of tough trail. It consisted of a few very gnarly hillclimbs, then some virgin off camber single track. I was out of water at this point, causing cramps in my legs. The sixth and final test went well for me. It was only 5.5 miles long so I just pinned it to the finish. I ended the day winning four of six tests, and taking the overall win. I am very happy with my performance. My Bill Eddy’s KTM was flawless, and all of my products on the bike were awesome. This race was a great start to the 2011 season!

Thanks for the report. Congrats on a job well done!
Congratulations on the win Zach. Parker was telling me that the entire family cleaned up at that race. Hope you don’t mind but I added your site to my blogroll.
